Question: Are the downloaders Trojans?

Answer:

The downloaders are NOT trojans. Your antivirus may flag the downloaders as they aren't signed by a verified developer.
Obtaining a certificate requires a significant financial investment, which we currently cannot afford.
If you have concerns, you can review the source code for each downloader on Github.

Question: I do not own Rainbow Six Siege on Steam. Can I download using my Ubisoft/Epic Games account instead?

Answer:

No, our downloaders use Steam's depot service in order to download old versions of the game from their servers.
In order to download, you need a valid Steam account that has a valid license for Rainbow Six Siege registered to it.
You can't authorize a connection to Steam servers using an Ubisoft or Epic Games account, just like you can't
log into Steam using your Ubisoft or Epic Games account.

Question: Why do the downloaders require my Steam login details?

Answer:

The downloaders requires your Steam credentials to access and download the game directly from Steam's servers.
This is necessary as the downloaders use Steam's depot service to retrieve the game files, which is not possible if you're not logged in.
Every downloader utilises DepotDownloader, which is an open-source tool used to download from Steam servers.
We NEVER store or share your Steam login details, as it is impossible for us to do so. ONLY Steam receives them.

Question: What does "verify" mean? How can I verify my game files?

Answer:

Verification ensures that any missing or corrupted files are properly redownloaded. To verify your files, simply run the downloader again without deleting existing files. It will automatically check for issues and replace any files that may be missing or corrupt.

Question: How do I replace the crack files?

Answer:

To replace crack files, visit our Discord server and download them from the #Guides-and-FAQ channel.

  1. Download the ZIP file (preferably to a folder with an antivirus exclusion) and extract it.
  2. Open the extracted folder, which contains three subfolders, each corresponding to a range of seasons:
    • Folder 1: For Year 1 Season 1 to Year 6 Season 2.
    • Folder 2: For Year 6 Season 3 only.
    • Folder 3: For Year 6 Season 4 to the latest season.
  3. Choose the correct folder based on your game version. Using the wrong cracks will cause the game to not launch.
  4. Open the folder, select all files, and copy them into the season folder. Press "Replace" on the popup if prompted.

Warning: Make sure to select the correct cracks for your game version. Using the wrong cracks will cause the game to not launch.

Question: Can I stop / pause the game download?

Answer:

Yes, all you need to do simply is to close out of the downloader, at any point.
If you wish to resume the download process, launch the downloader and select the season you were previously downloading.
The downloader will resume from the point it got up to before stopping, and additionally verify the existing files before pausing.

Question: Why am I getting errors whilst downloading?

Answer:

Most errors that occur whilst downloading can be ignored, as they do not interfere with the download process.
Below listed are some errors you may encounter, and how you can resolve them:

    • Depot xxxxx is not available: This indicates that you do not own siege on steam, or you need to use SKU RUS to obtain files.
    • Failed to allocate file...: Free up some storage, or move the downloader to a different drive.
    • Another process is using xxx: Ensure no program is interefering with the downloader. Close any app that may be doing so.

Question: How do I install the game to another drive?

Answer:

To install the game on a different drive, it varies on what downloader you are using:

  • For Verge Poland's downloader: Move the downloader to a new location in File Explorer.
  • For Akrisz's downloader: Choose the new file path in downloader settings (also applies for Hotfix version).
  • For SlejmUr's downloader: Same as Verge Poland's downloader.

Warning: Ensure that you update any antivirus exclusions for the new folder, to avoid any issues.

Question: How do I delete the game?

Answer:

To delete the game, simply delete the season folder. If the game is running in the background, open Task
Manager and close Rainbow Six Siege before attempting to delete the season folder.

Question: Do I need the live (current) version of Siege installed?

Answer:

No, you don't need the live version of Siege installed. Each version operates independently, like a separate
game.

Question: Why is my download stuck at a certain %?

Answer:

The downloader may appear stuck, but it is likely still downloading game files. The progress bar only updates when a file is
fully downloaded, which can take time depending on file size, and / or your internet speed. To check if it's active, open Task Manager and see if the downloader or "dotnet.exe" is using network resources.

Question: What is SKU RUS? Why may I need to use it?

Answer:

Some regions require a different game version due to regional restrictions. Post-USSR countries need to use the SKU RUS option.
If your steam account is from one of the listed regions in the image, you must use the SKU RUS option to obtain your game files.
This version is only available in Russian, and may not be compatible with modding tools and multiplayer support may be limited.
If you want to change the language, visit our Discord server and download the "localization.lang" file in the #Guides-and-FAQ
channel, then place it in the game folder. (redo)
